All 3 console makers did really well last gen. And apart from Nintendo (who is not out of the race yet), Sony and ms are breaking console sales records. This is well into the mobile gaming platforms taking hold with kids. I think mobile gaming is actually a gateway into console gaming and kids will upgrade to consoles. I know you said you are not considering sales in your OP, but the sales speak for themselves. I would be surprised if consoles go away anytime soon. There is room for them to exist alongside PC and mobile gaming.
