I somewhat agree.
The problem is every console gen marked a clear evolution in technology. This gen, the leap was tiny. Next gen, it might be completely imperceptible. That beeing the case, what would motivate a consumer to buy a new one?
Unless they come up with a new type of evolution or gimmick, there is no chance. It will become a niche and the masses will indeed just game on phones or tablets or something dumb like that because they cant apreciate a quality game. Some half minute game is enough for them.
