Nah, the gameplay is superior in The Last of Us. I wouldn't call either game repetitive. Which has a 'better' story is preference tho. Not sure why you think a boss is a requirement in a game like that. |
The final boss is the climax of a game. How can you not think that is relevant? The gameplay has more complexities but the levels on The last of Us are very horizontal and uneventful. It plays exactly like a gears of war game with some stealth segments. You fight more humans than infected during the game, so it feels more like a 3rd person shooter than a survival horror as it was touted.
The story is not as preference as you might seem. I believe its the type that appeals to "The walking dead" fans. It seems theres quite a fandom for that in the US, but cmon theres 2 "chapters" during the first season that are complete filler. All they do is repeat the same emotions we found early in the game when a big event happens that changes the journey (i believe you know what i mean). The brothers arc for example, complete filler. What it showed was exactly like that said event. There were no new emotions. The story only opens up again on the 2nd season because the first one was bloated with filler (plus the crazy guy in town that had a history with Joel that is never mentioned). Its not great storytelling.
