Your above 2 points are the only ones worth responding to. Responses below.
1. PS3 eBay prices probably would have seen a corresponding increase then, if that were right. Not sure that that has happened. If you want to show it, cool, just produce the data.
2. MS used the shortage excuse to cover up lower-than-expected sales. Why would Sony mention shortages to "cover up" their higher-than-expected sales? Right; it wouldn't make any sense, either.
