| ArnoldRimmer said: I agree, but what I've read about Spengler and his main work after watching the video leads me to believe that giving exact dates was rather just a misinterpreation of Spengler's theories by the video creator. For example, neither the german nor the english Wiki page about "the decline of the west" even mentions any of the year numbers actually stated in the video (1000, 1500, 1800, 2000, 2200 A.D.)
yes he put the dates himself but spengler gave a timeline and period. the video creator replicated those period each civilization lasts 2000-2500 years Western Civlization started after the fall of the Roman Empire in Northern Europe. by 1000AD they had formed a culture and by 1500AD started mass expansion
this period correlates with islamic,vedic,chinese,greco-roman civilization and others too
go to the spengler civilizational model page below http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spengler%27s_civilization_model So while that criticism seems perfectly valid, I think it focuses too much on a minor detail of the video that is not even really backed by the original theory. |
