I think it has more to do with wanting the element of the game that is supposed to represent you to actually represent him than an issue of racism.  I had a similar question after looking at the trailer.  

Didn't see this when I replied the first time... but it's not because I'm black, since y'know... I'm not lol, it was just one of many questions that pop into my head randomly everyday, and since it was videogame related, I thought where better to ask it than a videogame forum, lol :P

But But your avatar lol.  Well I am black and as I said it was one of the first questions I had about the game too.  It would have been really awkward to see my brown face in the game but when I reached into the game not have that reflected.
