"Unforgettable characters, incredible puzzles". Wow..
Ridiculous high score for the first part of an adventure game with short playtime, mostly very simple puzzles and an even more simplified point&click interface (designed most probably with tablets in mind). The unreflected pro-Tim Schafer bias in most gaming media has reached a new level. This man made his last outstanding game 9 years ago and Broken Age (so far) doesn't have a quality anywhere close to Psychonauts.
Mind you: Final judgement should and will be made by all of us when part 2 is out, i.e. the whole game could be fantastic in the end, but this first part - which can be finished in 3 to 4 hours, it took me 3:20 - does not deserve a score anywhere close to 90, let alone 95.
So far I'd give it a generous 70 - it's a decent first half with an interesting cliffhanger. My personal score for the whole game can only come anywhere close to IGN's ridiculously bloated score if part 2 is longer and - above all - far better and deeper in puzzle design, story, immersion and wit - in other words: only if part 2 puts the complete game on a level very close to Day of the Tentacle and Grim Fandango (these are Schafer's 95/100 p&c games).
