What?
Final Fantasy XIII sold less than VIII and X. They were neither the first in 3D (which XII was) nor the first in HD (which XIII was). Not quite sure what you're going with in that statement.

I'm not saying she has no fans. I'm saying what remains of her popularity is manufactured by her being the most fan-servicey character who is shoved in everything Final Fantasy related Square-Enix can possibly fit her into.
Leave her out of the limelight for a year or two and I think she'd rank a lot lower. And alternatively, if they brought any of their other populary characters back for a new game, I'd imagine they'd rank a lot higher.

These two sentences kind of conflict with each other. X is even older than XII, but X HD showed that despite age, people were still more interested in it than a new XIII game.
