All those things you mention enter in the marketing and advertisement category. Word of mouth comes from people who buy the console and share their experiences, and why they bought it in the first place? because they saw an ad with some cool games and/or the console features and they like what they saw. Companies also pay people to say good stuff about their products even if they have never use it before. If you don't market the console well enough, it won't appear on Google as a first option or even first page, the competition will appear first (that's how Google makes a lot money, companies pay them to prioritize their products over others). The last one is pure assumption, how do you know that the people who work at those stores tell people to buy a PS4 over a X1? when it comes to expensive stuff, a consumer goes to a store and looks for a specific product that he or she already had in mind, because he or she saw it on TV or a street ad. If a person prefers the X1 and its games over the PS4, the worker at the store won't stop that person from buying it, simple as that. The person would show the games the console has, it features, and of course, the price, the consumer will later make the decision. Specs (which was your original point) has basically nothing to do with a person making the desicion or not. They can be a selling point, but they are down in the reasons why a normal folk buys a console, price and games alone are (or at least should be) way above specs in terms of reasons as to why to buy a console. |
I agree about price but specs play a huge role these days, especially when the ps4 is running games in full hd, and they both have the same games aside from a few exclusives.
