720p -> 1080p is not a nice conversion, neither is 900p -> 1080p
Actually 720p is better than 900p, then at least you can get a 4K display and set console output to 720p so as not to get any interpolated pixels during upscaling.

It doesn't matter for all games ofcourse, but fine detail, texture heavy games suffer from upscaling.
