Its down to arrogance and being stubborn. They had the chance to GREATLY expand during the Wii/DS heyday when they were making the biggest profits the industry had ever seen. Everyone could see that software, while brilliant, was few and far between and the casual crowd could only be held with party and fitness games for so long. Nintendo needed more teams. Nintendo needed young, new developers and they needed to give them creative freedom. Was the perfect time to expand and they blew it. Nintendo simply dont have the development capabilities to support 2 platforms without meaningful 3rd party support. |
hopefully, something good comes out of the ashes when all is said and done. As a die hard nintendo fan, I can't defend them at this point, all i can do is support them by buying their games and hope a miracle happens. But the consistant pestering of the other side is becoming somewhat annoying and has ruined the spirit of the community, a perfect example would be this thread.
