Ok stupid idea to force Europe and NA to go head to head. Europe is no Military Force at the Moment and in the Years to Come. The last Great European Army was Germany's 2. WW Wehrmacht - Now the Bundeswehr is one of the weakest big Armies. With Big I mean UK, France, Germany and Russia. Every of those Nations has its own Style of Warfare, the Russians come in shear Numbers, the Brits use their Naval Warpower and all around proper Soldiering. France always deploys their Legion when it gets rough, which are terrific Fighters. Germany was always a special Thing. They'd always left the freedom of Choice how to handle specific Situations to their small Fireteams which could handle themselves very well without having to wait for direct orders, so they could attack or retreat at own will. The Command is responsible for the bigger Picture. They were well equipped with some quality Weapons and if you convince them to fight for a good reason, you'll have (had) a dangerous enemy to engage. But now the Bundeswehr is weak, because after the Events of WW I and especially II and the wars they'd fought before that, the Allies didn't want that to happen again, so the Bundeswehr was built to slow down a full force Russian Tank Invasion during the Cold War and is now a primarily Defence Force.
A War between Europe and the US (again stupid idea) would be over very soon, the US forces would bring their air carriers and would try to gain the early supremacy from above and blow out European Industry and Defence with Air force and Missiles. The common European Citizen would rather prefer to surrender than fighting. Because Europe is tired of fucking Wars, Cities got flattened, every European Household lost Relatives, Britain lost nearly all of it's Superpower Status, Germany was and somehow still is a US American Colony from 1945 to nearly 2000. France is no Economy Powerhouse.
And if you combine the Armies of Portugal, Sweden, Ireland, Romania, Greece, Italy and Bulgaria you'll have difficulties because of Language, Mentality, Equipment, Education and so on.
What you should understand is that we already have an on going war between the US and Europe, the War of Brain Drain, Financial Interests (US is threatening Switzerland at the moment and forced the little Country to give up on their financial policy, which US states like Delaware could do in the future without consequences) Economy and making Countries fit for the Future and on this War I see Europe on the winning Side.

I almost entirely agree! Great Summary!

I am a bit amazed by the parity of the poll between NA and Europe. Well, this is very wishful thinking, which is far from reflecting the reality.

In Post-WWII world, Europe has no chance against NA, not a single chance at this current state. Nothing, nada. US alone spends more than the rest of the world combined in military. Including Russia in the equilibium does not change anything. Russia in 2014 is weaker than the Russia in 1990. Income per capita fell sharply, only to catch up to the original level in early 2000s. Russia's population has decreased from 150 million to 140 in the last 3 decades while US has increased by 50 million from 260 to 310 million. US's military expenditure has been increasing even faster after the fall of socialism, while Russia is way below its peak points. Etc etc etc. So basically Europe doesn't stand a chance TODAY.

However, historically speaking, things are different. In a WWII setting, the combined military might Europe was unmatched, not by even a NA Alliance. In order to balance the powers, you need Common Wealth of Nations + US + Mexico on one side. Basically on a WWII setting, the following powers are more balanced.

Under WWII settings

Continental Europe + Russia + Colonies

VS

Common Wealth of Nations + USA + Mexico + Colonies

That's what I call a balanced division of power!
