I knew it was from way before Kabbalah, but yeah, I didn't know Hebrew lacked vowels and that YHWH came before Yahweh. Interesting stuff.
It reminds me of George Carlin's bit about "shell shock" turning into "war fatigue" and then turning into "post-traumatic stress disorder." It's the euphemism treadmill! Everybody hop on!
