Even though it doesn't improve my outlook on the game I am more motivated now to enjoy it, just to prove that change doesn't affect my love for the series as much as it did other's.

That's just blind devotion.

Why is necessarily blind devotion? If he liked the changes introduced in FF games, then it's not really blind. He's looking forward to innovation in the series, how it that a bad thing? Whether the changes are good or not is to be determined.

Reread what's bolded.  Doesn't have anything to do with liking changes made.  He made it clearly obvious, even in this post that he doesn't like the changes the game made and isn't satisfied with how the game plays, but he'll enjoy it to prove he's a fan of the series.  Don't see how you can force yourself to enjoy a game.  Maybe force yourself to play a game, but not enjoy.

It's kind of like how I consume a lot of my entertainment. Ultimate entertainment is not necessarily the goal for me. It's more for the new experience. It helps though if it is a lot of fun. That's why I finished a lot of animes I didn't like. Sometimes I was even surprised by a good ending and could appriciate the little things even though they did not overweigh the bad stuff.

I can't force myself to enjoy something but I can try to have the most positive attitude about it as possible. It won't cloud my final judgement but it makes the ride more enjoyable.

But I think it's getting too philosophical now.
