Why is necessarily blind devotion? If he liked the changes introduced in FF games, then it's not really blind. He's looking forward to innovation in the series, how it that a bad thing? Whether the changes are good or not is to be determined.

Reread what's bolded.  Doesn't have anything to do with liking changes made.  He made it clearly obvious, even in this post that he doesn't like the changes the game made and isn't satisfied with how the game plays, but he'll enjoy it to prove he's a fan of the series.  Don't see how you can force yourself to enjoy a game.  Maybe force yourself to play a game and try to believe you like it, but you probably don't.
