As a company as a whole, Sony is in a much dire situation, but their game division can survive if they don´t bleed it out to save other parts.

Nintendo can survive as a game publisher and developer, and handheld consoles for kids, but not as a tech company.

You do realize that most folks who own 3DS' right now, are teens and adults, right? Why do you think that Iwata (specifically commenting on the Japanese market), said in that investors meeting that NIntendo needed to do a better job or reaching (advertising) to kids with their new products? Sure, plenty of kids own 3DS, especially after Pokemon came out. But at the same time, most 3DS owners I know are 16 and older, well into their adult years even.
