Camping used to be almost like cheating, but in modern games the sniper is a key role. And it's a role I like to play. It's actually hard to be effective at it, as in COD there are usually always multiple paths to each sniping perch and once you kill someone they know where you are and can usually take you out with a grenade or back door approach... so you have to keep moving and finding new cover. I enjoy the strategy of it more than the "twitch" game of running and gunning with assault rifles. I personally really preferred providing battlefield cover and taking out snipers with the light machine gun in Blops2, but I find those weapons less effective in Ghosts so far into my play time with it. So I've been more of a sniper and it's a perfectly legit play style.
This isn't the early days of shooters when a rocket jump could get you on a hidden ledge and you could pick off the battlefield in complete safety.
