Well no where in the OP was it said the person was Hetero sounded to me like it was a first relationship kinda romance so the persons entire views on love would have formed around everything they encountered with this person not a pre determinered mindset that love must be between a man and a woman.

Nowhere in the OP did it say the person was male either. 

No, but I kinda implied it actually. I should have made a quick-second version swapping "she" for "he" and implying the reader being female.
