January last year was 57k in US, this year VGC has 109k? Why the 100% YoY increase?

Down 38k YOY in Japan, it's possible that WiiU is down WW as well.

I assume WW is World Wide.... This thread compares 2013 with 2014 World Wide/Global sales of the Wii U... Week 1 to Week 5 of 2014 is 14.3+ % up from Week 1 to Week 5 of 2013.

Yes it is, and I think it's overtracked. I don't see any reason WiiU would be up in US (and Europe for that matter) so much YoY. NPD is this Thursday so we'll find out.

Lower price of entry, $299 with no games last year vs $299 with 2 games and 4x storage in 2014. Increased library of games, Lego City, Monster Hunter, Pikmin, Wind Waker, Mario 3D World, Wii Party U are just some of the notable releases since this time last year. Also historically America is by far Nintendo's strongest market. NES, N64, GC all had over 50% of worldwide sales.

Did nothing for December sales YOY, why would it do anything for January?

That's a lie and you know it... If there wasn't for price drop, couple of exclusives being released and Super Mario 3D World being released in November then Wii U could have literally flopped in 2013's holidays... Price drop and Super Mario 3D World saved the day.

Wii U would't sell that well in holidays of 2013 without price drop and Super Mario 3D World. Factual.
