I doubt it would be that easy. Just think of the USS Liberty, the ship that israeli jet fighters attacked during the six-day war in a false flag attack, in order to drag the US into the war. It was "only" a technical research ship (so probably not as heavily armored as a true warship), several israeli aircrafts attacked it for hours, and yet, it simply wouldn't sink.

That incident btw may have been one of the biggest and underestimated miracles in history - LBJ had already sent bombers to Cairo, which according to certain sources were armed with nuclear weapons. It was pretty much in the very last moment, when it became clear that the ship hadn't sunk and eyewitnesses had survived that LBJ called back the bombers. That day, the world may have actually been even closer to the brink of a nuclear world war than during the cuba crisis.

Those planes were not really....the best planes in the day and best not to be used as a comparison to what a US bomber can do especially by todays standards. They used no true bombers as well. Fighters are mainly made for knocking other planes out of the sky. Planes in that attack are below.
