Yikes, hopefully nothing happens, but man, they're poking at a sleeping bear when it comes to the US Navy.

i was in the usnavy back in 89' , and yes they are poking a very big bear!

i was on cv-59, an also on  my last tour of duty being

the USS_Bainbridge_(CGN-25)

and as you can see with

Armament: 2 Terrier SAM launchers (80 Missiles), 2 × 3"/50, ASROC (8 Missiles), 6 × 12.75" torpedo tubes, 8 Harpoon SSM

like that along with support and the AEGIS Fire Control System

the ships in a conflict with the US Navy in a Nav War would no go so well with both sides getting hit. but with the advanced systems the USNavy has its not somthing you want to just go and right challenge so quick, you have to be really commited to do it, and you know your going to take very heavy casualties in doing so.

for instance in the case of those 8 Harpoon SSM's you have quite the range maNY TIMES ON YOUR TARGET BEFORE HE EVEN GETS CLOSE!,

add in the

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tomahawk_cruise_missile

"In May 2009, Raytheon Missile Systems proposed an upgrade to the Tomahawk Block IV land-attack cruise missile that would allow it to destroy or disable large, hardened warships at 900 nautical miles (1,700 km) range. This upgrade has been funded

which by the way can be launched from sub's or battleships hell even destroyers! can carry them
