There are retailers here discounting Xb one by $50 or more. I don't know wh's taking the loss on those discounts. But if the cost to market is US$471 then a $50 price cut here pretty much means a small loss on hardware.


Please, post a pic or a link for those discounts.

OT: This article is what I like to call a "mental masturbation". It's just a bunch of inaccurated assumptions with a short sight view of the market.

1- The promotion is for USA only, a place where sales seens to be 1 to 1.

2- This kind of deal is not anusual in NA, Samsung, Amazon and others had done this many time.

3- WW sales are much closer than VGChartz numbers are showing, it's 4,2mi vs 3,9mi shipped. No way in hell every single PS4 shipped had been sold until december 31.

I'm guessing you missed the countless threads where the PS4 was sold in most areas WW.  And the fact that Sony had to move some January shipments to December, hence the lack of shipments til mid-January.  So yea, I would say all those consoles were sold.  And MS's own estimates puts 900K One's on shelves, meaning demand dropped quite a bit near the end of Dec.  So yea, VGC is probably close to the real numbers.  And if famousmortimer was correct, they are either overtracking One in the US and/or undertracking the PS4 for Jan.
