The X1 is great from what I have tried and seen at kiosks. The price is just killing it.
Although I will say that both it and PS4 are sold out in most areas on a regular basis. But that does not say much since the Wii U is as well....but I think that is just because retailers are not ordering anymore.

The x1 has not been sold out in most areas for a long long time, even in the US  a tonne is sitting on shelves. It's more then price, ps3 was more expensive, Playstation is a bigger brand World wide period.

Playstation is a bigger brand? That is why according to Seece the X360 is still technically ahead of PS3 or recently passed? Only worldwide because Sony owns Japan. Microsoft cannot get a foothold.

And yes, as I said. Price Matters. PS3 was more expensive and it took many price drops for people to finally push it over the 360. Plus as we said....Japan.

You're pulling out that tired argument again? 8 years on market vs 7 years. The only reason 360 is still ahead/even with PS3 is because of the huge lead in the USA. In 95% of markets PS3 is comfortably ahead of 360. So yeah, on a global basis PS is a much stronger brand than Xb. Outside the USA PS3=55M sold, Xb 360 = 36M sold, that's not just down to Japan

Definitely price is a factor, but mostly in USA. If Xb one was the same price as PS4 in Europe I think the sales gap would still be big, just not as big as it is right now. If MS really wanted to compete with PS4 in Europe it would have to be at least $50 cheaper, probably more like $100 cheaper.

As to the trade-in deal itself, I doubt it's achieved anything. After all as the article says you can trade in your PS3 to offset the cost of PS4 and even if you only get $50 for the PS3, that's still a PS4 for $50 less than Xb one with a PS3 trade in. People aren't that stupid, they're not going to go from intending to get a PS4 to intending to get a Xb one on the basis of this offer. However people intending to going from PS to XB will be enticed to buy now rather than later.
