Well it will be very interesting to see what effect PS4 will have in Japan. Home console ownership has declined in comparison to handhelds. If PS4 is able to gain stronger traction in Japan than the PS3 will be interesting.
I'm not sure about the rest of Asia, but the X1 will not be as successful as PS4 in Japan. In Europe it looks to be a strong opening for PS4. US might be about even.
So I would not say its an end game scenario for Microsoft. They have done some great work for the online community with the Xbox console, so as long as they push that I think they will have a good chance of being successful, just not as successful as Sony worldwide.
