I dont think its luck, they have been doing this for like 20 years now, have 1-2 really big franchises at a time, milk the hell out of them for 5-10 years, once they die replace them with a new big franchise.
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater, Guitar Hero, Call of Duty, Skylanders, next up is probably Destiny
