Aww, really? I know with soo many RPGs on PS2 that at least half of them are bound to be hot steamy turds, but I was hoping this series might be the exception. Sad. Still really interested in playing Shadow Hearts though. I'll get the other ones just for collections sake. |
Dont get me wrong, the first Shadow Hearts was good IMO. I loved every minute of it. Only thing is was that Covenant was light years ahead of it in terms of graphics and game mechanics refinement. You should have started with the first as you'll find it under whelming when compared to covenant. Though story wise, it holds up pretty well, in fact, I think I enjoyed the first one's story more than I did covenant as it was darker and had very little humor sa compared to covenant.
Kudelka, the psone game that has some references to shadow hearts was a horrible game. I found out of its connections after playing shadow hearts and covenant and decided to try and play it. (granted I emulated it as I no longer had a PSOne back then...). It was horrible horrible horrible. It was like survival horror meets srpg meets the uglies. I lasted all of 10 hours and still not getting it. I gave up after that.
Shadow Hearts 3 the New World has some references from Shadow hearts 1 and 2 but is a completely new story and had no connection the the first two which was a major disapointment. I really wanted to continue Yuri's story, but sadly, it was not meant to be. Its a disapointment as compared to covenant as covenant set the bar high for the seiries and suddenly the new world was average at best. Not to mention some parts were face palm worth. I'd still recomend it if you run out of things to play....ahhh... the PS2.... I sure wish I still had one...
