Maybe it's because Sony is the one who plays it safe the most. PS4 is basically an upgraded PS3 and it's the most powerful console in current existence. Xbox One gets a lot of criticism because it's weaker, because of Kinect and because of what it was originally intended to be. Wii U also gets criticism because of it's Gamepad, the considerable difference in power, the "lack of games" (Even though it now has a more than decent catalogue IMO), the slow start, etc.
Despite PS Vita "failure" (Let's see what happens in future years) we don't get to see that many news as for 3DS or home consoles, so there's not much bashing because simply there is nowhere to bash.

So, to sum it up, no one can talk bad about Sony because they aren't doing risky moves to ensure positive results, which is good considering the current state of the company.

So much BS. How is it just an upgraded ps3,  if so then x1 is a lesser upgraded 360?  Really all any console is is just an upgraded new machine. There is nothing x1 does that is new or revolutionary. PS4 has as many new features as x1. Nice backhand compliment there.

The ps3 was a bigger risk then anything MS has done, bluray was not even guaranteed to be the next gen format, and that price was a major risk.
