ico is a strange piece of work but ultimately it's an escort puzzle mission with a sentimental quality to it.  Not game of the year material imo. Eye of the beholder maybe. Sure ur right they buy to collect but it's a good playable experience unlike nwc90.  They get to enjoy playing it, not just owning it. I think Windwaker is more comparable to Combat evolved as far as craftsmanship.  I don't know how much that remake cost at launch but i'd say near full price would be acceptable.

Definitely agree with you there. I didn't think highly of ICO when I first started to play it but it somehow attached itself to me. It's also my girlfriend's favourite game so I guess that could also be a factor as to why I think highly of it lol

Windwaker is a brilliant game, there's no doubt about that. The full price for the remake is definitely worth it only due to the fact that it has been completely redone as opposed to having a simple makeover like a lot of the PS360 remakes.

I haven't fully given ico a chance.  Everytime i start to play i get disinterested very fast.  Not the games fault of coarse, i swear one day i'll get into it :) shadow of the colossus was more adventurous and made me buy a ps3 in hope of last gaurdian.  But it too lacked in ways, though touching as it was.

I hear ya on being more than a makeover.  Arguably it's the sole reason for justification.  There's a part of me that thinks a good game is always a good game... especially if it's better than it's contemporaries.  and demand is a fairly good factor in pricing.   An example is earthbound. It costs 25% more than other snes vc games but it's also a great game and a very very expensive ebay item.  It's alright if you disagree.  If i was selling quality software in high demand i'd sell at a premium to increase it's "perceived" value.
