Nintendo Fanboys do not care if games are 3rd party or not but they do care about quality and are used to a very high standard that most 3rd party games are not able to meet. If you are grown up with A Link to the Past and Super Mario 64, you expect this level of quality to be the standard and won't play anything of lower production value.
The Wii-U in my opinion is another story, it is a failed console for some very good reasons:
1. The hardware is too weak and cannot compete.
2. It does not come bundled with Wiimote and Wii Sports HD.
3. Nobody needs this stupid, ugly, large, heavy and energy consuming tablet that cannot even be used without the main console.
4. The user interface is slow and inconvenient.
5. Most games are Kids-only.
6. There are not enough good games worth buying (In my opinion there is just Mario 3D Word at the moment).
7. There are no JRPGs at all.
9. Nintendo Fans from the 90s are grown up and want to play grown up games.
10. Where are the games at all?
It would be easy to solve all of those problems by dropping the tablet and taking some 3rd party investments and changes in development and marketing strategies but Nintendo obviously does not want to do that and is therefore doomed.
