Seriously 4.2 million PS4s sold... I would expect that nearly all early adopters want to play online.

Clearly they don't,  50% ratio is about the same as xbox live?

I think it was 57% or so in 2010.
The Xbox 360 was 5 years on the market already, so a lot of more casual gamers joined back then.

I really thought that those core fans that buy the PS4 ASAP are the ones using PS+ as well. Buying / preordering a 399€ console and 50% of those never play online is surprising to me.
