We're already seeing games like Tomb Raider where the framerate is considerably lower and that was basically a last gen title with a fresh coat of paint.

Well in this case a "last gen title with fresh paint" would have more problems with XBox One's memory layout than with the flat PS4 memory layout. There really is no surprise here that TR on the XBox One is weaker than what could be expected.

But Tomb Raider isn't a last gen game with a fresh coat of paint. It was already "next gen" on PC, where it has better textures, tressFX, better models, better environment geometry, etc... The new version for PS4 and XBO is just making that gap with the PC smaller, and in some aspects, it goes beyond it.
People saying it's just a last gen game with a fresh coat of paint don't grasp what makes a game "next gen" or not.

Educate me then.

I am saying that the fact that this game came out for last gen consoles doesn't mean it can't utilise the potential of the new consoles.
For exemple, the PC version could never run on the PS3 or 360. It's the same game, sure, but each version is tailored to the hardware it runs on. The fact that it was released for the PS3 and 360 doesn't make it any less of a next gen game on the XBO and PS4, especically since the developers put extra effort to utilise the new hardware features and capabilities.
