A few days ago a big hubbub happened as Ubisoft allegedly filed to unilaterally abandon theWatch Dogs trademark with the United States Patent and Trademark Office. The petition, actually filed fraudolently by an unknown third party impersonating CEO Yves Guillemot, was promptly accepted and the trademark was filed as abandoned.
Two days ago Ubisoft appealed the decision, confirming with the USPTO that Guillemot sent no such request. After being swamped by bureaucracy for a couple days due to the lack of a document, the government officer decided to accept the appeal, and today the trademark has been reinstated under Ubisoft’s control.
All’s well that ends well. Looks like Watch_Dogs managed to pass another obstacle on the way towards its yet unannounced release date.
