The device used is immaterial IMHO. Outside of the obvious that the boy is deranged the issue with the article that is germane to this forum is that the story is highlighting the fact that he used the XB1 to view the porn. This kind of reporting tends to shift the blame to the device (its much like the anti-gun crowd's reaction to mass shootings etc.) instead of the perpetrator or in this case the parents of the boy.
Why does he have access to pornography in the first place? How long were the children alone that this could happen without a parent nearby to stop it? We will see so many reactions about how videogames are bad for our children etc. etc. when in reality it's the fault of the people surrounding the issue.
I purposefully have only one television in the living room so I can monitor what my children watch on TV. I have parental controls set on all my internet enabled devices. I check on my kids' situations regularly to ensure they are okay even when they are "safe" in my home. Why couldn't these parents provide that for their daughter AND their son. Both of these children's lives are ruined.
Parents can't be perfect so I don't want to damn them completely but we have to be careful to divert blame where it belongs which is the child and his parent(s) not the XB1.
