I don't know why I didn't think of this earlier...

Remember about a month or two ago when Bill Gates said the 360 will be the most reliable console ever? I bet what they did is improve there QA standards.

If they required every console to go though a burn in phase, I could see this causing two things to happen. One is it would take longer to make one console (as they have more steps in the process), and two is it would reduce the yield. If in the real world 20% of 360's break (just a guess), and MS employs good QA standards, those 20% would never leave the factory.

I bet that's what it is.

Shortages? If they had real shortages they wouldn't cut the price in Europe, don't you think?

EDIT: There were some shortages around here (Elites only) in mid-to-end-of-January but not in February. Also in February you could buy them online.

Yes, because the 360 sells at the same rate in all regions and because MS ships the correct ratio to every country in the world.

Argh, this is getting tiring. There was a fucking shortage. Admit it. Even a moderator on this very site who works in retail admitted that they were not getting the 360s they ordered. All you had to do was check online inventory in any major American retailer in January to see that the 360 was sold out nearly everywhere.
