At least half of the success is due to his hearing loss. People don't give a crap about creative people without disabilities so it was a clever scheme. I don't feel sorry for him or the people who liked the music. It changes practically nothing.
If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.
