Didn't change. I always loved RPGs, especially JRPGs. I also always loved open world games and arcade racers. If anything, over the years my taste got refined and more clear so that I tried fewer and fewer games from other genres.
That isn't bad though because I have pretty much a guarantee that I will love a game(or at least be absorbed into it for a substantial amount of time) if it falls in my favorite genres.
If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.
