That's pretty much the best thing he can say at this point.
Disregarding the true quality of the versions which I don't know the other responses could have been:
The Xbox One version is noticeably less powerful hurting sales on the system
The Versions are the same which reflects badly on the studio for not making the game look better on a more powerful platform.
