Seems very mischievous if delayed port it isn't a done deal. OTOH I think EA are looking at PS4 global dominance (esp. TF's potential number 2 market, the UK) and feeling like they backed the wrong horse. So I wouldn't at all be surprised if EA are looking for something to use as an escape clause.
