Wow, so making one outstanding game, inbetween a whole lot of mediocre ones is already enough to become the best RPG developer in the industry, good to know.

I would put Monolith as the best right now, until I see their next title.  The game was that good.  And they have the pedigree, the Xeno- games are widely hailed as among the very best of the PS2 era... though my heart is with Final Fantasy of those days.  I feel Monolith exceeds them right now.  My mind may change when X and FFXV are released.

I only played Xenogears 2 on PS2 and that game was incredibly dull to me (and I too loved Final Fantasy during that time). Also you should specify that you're talking about JRPGs here, cause if you're talking about RPGs in general then you're forgetting about a little game that has beaten Xenoblade in critical acclaim and simply crushed it in commercial success, which also comes from a developer that has a much better track record than Monolith.

No, I'm saying all RPG's.  I've played Skyrim and didn't especially enjoy it and I really like Mass Effect but I would rank Xenoblade above it.  Everyone's entitled to their opinions, but I put Xenoblade above anything since FFX in my all-time list for RPG's.
