Well, my computer had a near-death experience from Sunday through Tuesday. Long story short, I saved all of my documents and files, but had to reinstall almost every program. And sometime since mid-2010, the last time I needed it, I lost the 25 digit code for Excel 2003. Since Wednesday, I've been using some free software made by a Chinese company called Kingsoft. Basically, they give a clone of Microsoft Office circa ten years ago as a hook to make you buy their main product that's still cheaper than Microsoft Office. Thing is, their demo is almost as good as the software I've become accustomed to for the past decade, meaning I have little incentive to actually spend money on Office software at the moment. |
Ah, I was curious as to whether MS had tried to push you into Office 365 like they did to me, I think it's just anyone with Office 2010 but wasn't certain (I was using 2007 but because I had 2010 Starter version one of the Windows updates changed all the file associations so when I open a document it was asking me to start a subscription. I at least am savvy enough to remove the update but I suspect a number of people have ended up with Office 365 when they otherwise wouldn't have bothered)
