I don't see how you can view MS as not being a player next gen.
An epic failure? Are you talking about their performance next gen? If so how can that even be commented on when we haven't even lived out this gen yet?
They are a software corp yes and arent the best creating hardware but they arent the first corp to release faulty hardware and they may just learn from their mistake (tho Im not the biggest MS fan, they are as greedy a corp as any as we all know, it doesnt mean they are going to be willing to risk messing up as bad as they did with the 360 RROD again....tho you never know) people still buy 360's and with what they hopefully learned this gen I doubt they will be an epic failure (tho anything is possible, it seems unlikely)...I agree with what you say about how much they could have done ( aquired game devs, etc) if they didnt have to spend so much on hardware costs due to RROD.
