Sony needs to do the same thing Nintendo need to do.
Make their console/handheld enterprises a single omni-device which utilizes cloud processing and create a unified platform which has some games which need the TV and handheld, and some which simply just need the handheld. Effectively becoming 'Steam on steroids'.
