To the OP we dont play games on SD tube TV's anymore like you mentioned in the "arcade days" everyone now has HD TV's. I think all next gen games should be in 1080p 60fps or 30fps depending on the game or course and what works better. But for 1 system not to be able to do that after you fork out $600 is BS and a disservice to its cutomer in this new generation..but to say it does not matter is BS we live in 2014 not 1981 when arcades were hot. So to you I say "My ass resolution does not matter"!!!!
