it actually was a lot more straight forward than you'd think.

it was something like the analysis found the line item in one of sony's financial statements where software services was being reported.  he than made the assumptions that 100% of that revenue was from ps+ and that everyone payed $50 a year for ps+.   so it was like revenue generated / $50 per user ~= ps+ subscribers.

the analysis had some assumptions in it but it provided a pretty hard ceiling for what ps+ subscription rates could be and it wasn't all that high.

tried to find the article.  couldn't.

Like I said then, impossible to work out because that method just does not work.  Sony do NOT get $50 from every PS+ sub, they release around 60 games a year on PS+ and devs gets something out of that.

the money paid to developers does not change sony's revenues.

$50 a year is the "buget" option for ps+.   if you want to factor in the 3monthly and monthly options the size of the userbase goes down..

the numbers worked out, i promise you.  you can believe that cause i'm a massive sony fanboy who would love nothing more than to make sony look like the awesomesauce.   unfortunetly the facts don't support a large ps+ userbase on ps3.
