Glad that isn't a rule in the United States.

May I ask why? How does it benefit you as a consumer that the biggest companies are left alone to rampage through massive, cynical advertising due to a lack of rules of conduct and competition premises? Competiton is a good thing for consumers and the market in general.

Because as a consumer it gives you choices.

Re-read the bolded and then read your response again. Huge conglomerates dominating a market yields a very specific and observable lack of choice for the consumer, this is more or less markets and trade 101.

The provider(s) of goods and/or services decide(s) your choices, fewer acting competitors in any given market = less choice for the consumer. You're going to have to expand on your reasoning here because I really can't follow your logic here at all.

I should have been more specific. I was referring to ms offering rebates to ps3  owners. Nothing wrong with it. No different than trading your cell phone in for a different make or model. Competitor trade ins aren't something new.It gives you more choices as a consumer.
