Generally people always say the reason they haven't bought one yet is that there isn't "enough" compelling software.
What they really mean is there isn't enough exclusive compelling software. Maybe is Sony actually bothered to produce a few more top tier Vita exclusives, it'd stoke interest. But B ports of B franchises (Sorry, Sly is never going to sell gang busters and that Ratchet game was just oof) isn't going to do it. There should have been a follow up to Uncharted, Gran Turismo, A The Last Of Us game, an exclusive God of War and more from Sony.
In 2011, they announced Uncharted, WipeOut, Unit 13, and a bunch of others. (along with big name 3rd party titles, Need for Speed, FIFA, COD, Assassin's Creed)
In 2012, they announced KillZone and Tearaway and a few B ports,
In 2013, they announced Borderlands 2 and Football Manager 2014 and not much else
In 2014, they'll be announcing absolutely nothing by the look of it at the moment apart from some Japan translations.
So basically Sony's Western support of the console has been half arsed since launch.
