The implication has everything to do with perspective. Some people perceive ALL games as toys...some people think only little cars and action figures are toys...just because a definition is tied to a word, doesn't mean that we are suddenly no longer able to use figures of speech. The two go hand in hand. It's up to someone who is WILLING to understand to make the connection. Naturally, it will appear strange to someone with a closed mind.

EDIT: And in reverse; I also sprint and can do it pretty fast, but I'm no UB. I might say, "I am a pedestrian, Usain Bolt is a runner". You see, it's all about perspective.

Then we can say that considering Wii as a toy is  your own perspective.  That´s ok.

In my perspective, all videogames are essentially toys, even Ps3 and Xbox or whatsover. Heck. In our society videogames are STILL seen as toys by many people, despite the size and extent of the industry.

I just think that it´s silly to consider only the Wii as a toy just for its casual gaming library, because even PS3 and Xbox360 also have a lot of games in their library aimed at children and casuals. Kinect and PSMove were aimed to that audience the same way.

You see, it's not just my perspective. I don't think that the consoles aren't toys, it's just that I'm lending to the association that it is directed towards children. It's not that the the ps360 didn't have casual games. It's that wii had casual games, and Nintendo....
...Released less software (especially platformers) than they ever have for any console (although probably close to the cube)
...Neglected big franchises or sent them to other companies (other M)
...Did nothing to support the hardcore base, which needs games. We all knew wii wasn't getting third party support, and it would be on nintendo to provide, which they did not.

I only use the word 'toy' now, because I have a history on this site of using the word toy in relation to the wii. Of course, I ALWAYS said that it was never to denegrate it my calling it, and many people understood what I was implying, and a lot of people just fought me on the word. Sure, I could change the word toy to "aimed at children and the casual audience", but that doesn't really have much flair now does it? :D
