The poor don't get poorer though. Or at least not as a general rule.
The only thing remotley supporting that is that wages haven't kept up with inflation...
Except the problem with that is it accounts all inflation.
It only counts as getting poorer if you consider having less of a percentage of bigger pie as being poorer.
That said, the 8 years or so have been rough, first with the wiping out of assets, then with the economic recovery basically only benefitting those rich enough to have investments.
As a general rule though. It's not the poor are getting poorer, the poor are getting richer. It's just the rich are getting stupidly richer, making those who judge their wealth by comparison rather then by what they have feel poorer.
