People on these very forums, Kotaku, NeoGAF were all over that stuff and so very much more. MS was labeled evil for friggin' DRM! No, no, nonononono. You are reading this all wrong. This isn't about Google being evil, it's about them being naive and arrogant. They are barrelling down a path without considering the fallout. They said that they formed an ethics board to oversee it's use of A.I. (likely a stipulation of the purchase of DeepMind) this late in the game. We chuckle about them building a Terminator future without even considering that in that fictional universe nobody was INTENDING that to happen when they were busy building an A.I. and military robots. I recommend giving this a read. I'm not a conspiracy guy, and don't really think one is happening here. This isn't a situation of malice but one of hubris. Of course that distinction won't matter once things go bad. |
I don't care for such things. Because I have better stuff to do, we can't stop it anyway and I'm probably dead when it all goes really downhill.
The real scare are not the robots. Before they can even reach a certain level of sentience humanity will have much more severe sociological and ethical problems. That's partly because the robots taking more and more jobs and humans neglecting their social obligations for virtual reality.
