I'm getting sick of this RRoD talk, especially if you're going to buy a new HDMI model. 65n in the CPU and an extra piped heatsink for the GPU, it runs a lot cooler- do you really think MS are going to make the same mistake twice? No extended warranty for these models. Btw I work in a console repair shop.
I would not recommend a PS3 for BluRay movies as they are not that well built, it will just wear out the optics, drive etc. Get a hardware decoding stand-alone player or drive.
The FPS argument is rubbish- the 360 has an excellent spread of ALL game genre, it was nailed when Ace Combat 6 was released. With MS Force Feedback steering now there is no excuse not to drive on the 360.
Buy a PS3 later when they're cheaper ONLY for their exclusive titles and they're a few generations along in programming (because it sure needs it).
Sure, the PS3 can do twice as many floating-point calculations as the 360- but so what! This means bugger all to a games programmer but it's great for a filthy rich drug company wanting to exploit your console in a network cluster for free. What it has got is a SINGLE general purpose core as opposed to the 360's THREE- and this difference is holding back cross platform game development for EVERYONE.
You get what you pay for and in online gaming the 360 is superior and well established. Also, in the 360 a tiny amount of memory is reserved for this purpose so you don't have to exit your game to chat to a mate who is playing a different title.
